Why won't Word open some of my documents?

I work from home and have written a lot of technical documents in Word for a
company. These are formatted using tables, headers, footers, my own styles
and even the customer logo on the front page. I've been doing these for a
year when suddenly, Word on my home computer freezes (not responding) as it
tries to open any of these documents. It can open other documents not related
to these however. I've done a Norton virus scan and reinstalled Word twice
together with reloading the updates - all to no avail. At the customer site,
I can still open these documents and so can my daughter on her pc. What on
earth has gone wrong? Any help greatly appreciated.
