why won't some sites open up correctly?

I am trying to access local government web pages such as a local assesor's
site, or a government job listing site, etc... They will not open. I get the
screen that appears when the web sight does not exist. I know they are there.
I can get to them on other computers. Also, the function that allows me to
open online documents with Adobe Acrobat does not work either. I have tried
changing my settings. I went and reset my settings back to default, but it
has not worked for me. I have the latest explorer updates and everything. Why
can't I get it to work correctly?

Hi Dan :)

As you don't mention the version of Windows you are using, I'll have to take
a guess. Try the following and see if it helps:

Blank - Empty - White Pages

IE6 opens blank/empty/seethrough windows or have to refresh to see contents
Blank Pages:

also…..

Go to Start>Run> and register the following dll's by using
regsvr32 command. Try the first 2, then see if it resolves the problem. If
not then register the rest of the .dll's:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll?
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll?
regsvr32 msxml.dll?
regsvr32 mshtml.dll?
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll?
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll?

and...

First, update to the latest version of Acrobat Reader. Installing the Adobe
Reader should set it as the default for .pdf

To set the default for PDF files:

Go to Windows Explorer, find a PDF file and right click on it
Select the Open with
When the list of file types opens, scroll to the Acrobat Reader and click it
Then click ok and close out

also....

IE browser software defaults Acrobat Reader to "OFF" to display PDF files.
You can restore the setting to"ON" by finding an Acrobat document and then
opening it.
Then click Edit> Preferences> Internet> check the box nect to "Display PDF
in browser"

Also check any 3rd party programs you have installed and disable them to
find which one may be blocking it. Also... check your firewall and AV to
make sure nothing there is blocking it.

Hope this helps :)
