No offense, but doesn't that seen a little, um, DUMB! I mean, Windows 98
support is just ending this year, 8 years later! Why stop supporting
something that is still "wet behind the ears," so to speak? Sounds like a
conspiracy to me...
There's a ton of stuff to read about the lifecycle support policy--but it's
been out there to read for a good long time--this shouldn't be a surprise.
Customers using SP1 have the choice of moving to SP2, without incurring any
additional cost for the software--and SP3 after that.
Every OS/SP/language combination out there incurs support costs for
Microsoft--an IE patch, for example, has to be tested against over 400
different such combinations.
