Why Powerpoint is opening in Front Page

When I receive powerpoint presentations in an email and attempt to open,
Microsoft Front Page comes up instead with a message that it does not
recognize the pps.

If I then drag the item to desktop, rename from pps to ppt, they work. But
it is a very roundabout way of getting the job done. The real question is
why the received powerpoint presentation is not opening correctly and is
instead opening in error in Front Page.

The quickest fix is probably to open PowerPoint, Click on Help, Detect &
Repair.
