Why no Recording tab for my CD/DVD drives?

I'm running XP Home and can burn on both my drives, as follows:
- DVDs and CDs on my DVD RW drive ('NEC DVD_RW ND-4570A 1.02 (ATA)')
- CDs on CDRW drive (Teac CD-W524E 24x10x40)

I've been making DVDs (Data and 'DVD' types) and all sorts of CDs for
some years. I've used many programs for this.

Yet I've just noticed that if I look at Properties for these drives,
neither of them has a 'Recording' tab.

Can someone explain how that could be please?

You need to use a third party software like Nero to record DVDs. There is no
tab marked 'recording' on the properties of DVD RW drives.
Mike.
