why is work offline checked

We have found the "Work Offline" keeps getting checked and when a user comes
back in to the office he will not receive his Exchange Server email until he
sends/receives. I realize from previous posts that this can happen because
the Work Offline selection is right under the Outlook Exit selection, but
does anyone know if there is another reason? Could this happen by itself
when a user takes his pc home and then reconnects the next day in the office?
Thanks.

Sure, and also if you have network connectivity issues, it could happen in
the office on a desktop that is never removed from the network. Are you
using cached mode, or an old-fashioned OST file setup?

NB: when you post in here, always include your version, SP level, and mode
(if applicable) of Outlook - you can find this information in Help | About.
Also include the type of mail account(s) you use and any other pertinent
details.
