why is there a % sign automatically added in saved Word 2003 doc?

When saving a doc that was attached to an email, then opening with Word 2003,
it added % signs and numbers to the doc title. Why would this happen?

%20 is HTML code for "space". So since the document name contained
spaces in the name, Internet Explorer was too helpful to convert the
space to html language.

If you saved the file to your disk, then you will be fine to change the
%20 back to a space.

Dawn,

Thanks for the reminder about HTML! This doc was appended with "%5B1%5D".
Where would I find what this HTML code means?

Thanks!
Doug
