saving a word document as a .doc not .lnk

I have a word document I want to save as a .doc but when I save as word doc
it puts it as a .lnk I have 2007 word but I am choosing 2003-2007 Word Doc
to make it compatible with others. It has always saved as a .doc until now.
Please help. I need it as a .doc to present it to a professor that will not
accept a .lnk Thanks

A .lnk is a shortcut. Where/how are you saving it?

I am saving it to my documents. Then trying to upload to my professor. Why
is it saving it as a shortcut? It has never saved it in my documents as a

Have you looked at the file name in Windows Explorer? I wonder if you aren't
really selecting a shortcut and trying to upload that instead of the file.

I went thru and deleted the document and resaved it and it worked the last
time, so it must have been a file somewhere I did not know it, and I was
trying ot upload a shortcut! Thank you for the advice. Wendy
