why is the type becoming hard to read

The typeface in "office" and "outlook" is becoming faint and looks almost
broken up. Why is this and can it be fixed.

I had the same problem and it kept getting worse. I increased the
font size and bought a larger monitor. Then I had cataract surgery.
Since then, the typeface has been fine.
