I know this tool searches inside archives such as zip,
cab, etc - something the search from earlier OS's
didn't do. I also know this can be turned off
by unregistering some DLL's
(Why the MS designer/programmer didn't
provide this funcionality as part of the UI
has never been explained - it just seems nonsensical)
But this doesn't explain why it's so slow.
It only takes a fraction of a second to open the
CAB or ZIP enough to get the list of files,
but you can see the tool churning and churning.
What's it doing in there? I'm just searching
on a file name, not searching *in* the file
looking for some string.
I'm using Agent Ransack, but it doesn't work for
networked drive. I need to use the search
companion - and it's a dog.
