Why is template logo deleted when surrounding text is deleted?

I have a template that includes a logo pix and sample style text. When i
delete the sample text to insert document text, my log disappears. even tho
it is "lock anchor". I have to copy the logo, type the desired text, and then
paste it in after I have typed the document text.
How can I make the logo remain in position while I am writing text around it?
 
The best solution is usually to anchor the graphic to the document header
(Header or First Page Header depending on whether or not you want it to
repeat on every page). See
