Why is my Word document overwriting other documents?

I'm using a template and frames to create a document. I copied a similar
document and changed the file name. Now when I save changes to the new
document, the original one is changed as well.

you are either using a template (*.dot or *.dotx or *.dotm file) to
create a new document from, or you copy a similar document. You can't
really do both.

I figured out what's happening. When using Frames, linked docuements are
created for each frame. When I was updating 1 frame, I was updating all the
other documents that included this frame.

So you are dealing with HTML frameset documents?
