Why is my new system so slow?!

I've purchased 5 new Dells in the past 6 weeks - two 5100's, two dimension 2400's, and an optiplex.

The 5100's and 2400's seem barely faster, and sometimes slower, than the 350mhz machines they're replacing!

In particular, Peachtree 2003 runs much, much slower!!

What's wrong?

If you have experienced this on 5 machines it cannot be hardware related.

The machines should as you say should be faster then the ones they are
replacing. Have a look at the processor usage when the machine is idle and
see if anything is running with a high CPU usage (excluding the idle
process).

Is the software designed for XP?

I guess in the case in question, it was anti-virus that was slowing Peachtree down so much.

I uncheked a lot of startup items. Maybe I should be doing that for all my customers.

I'm still wondering if I should stick with Win98 when I get my own new machine!

Thanks!

Save your money! If you want to run Win98 you don't need a faster
more dependable OS nor a new machine. :-(
