why is modem #2 ?

Alienware area 51 M notebook Xp home SP 2 Im wondering why device manager
shows modem "smart link 56k voice modem #2" Im using the ethernet port with
ADSL. why #2 I only have one.

You can dissable or uninstall it since you using ADSL over ethernet, if
it annoys you this tip from RMcCarty may help

Click Start, Run (Type) DevMgmt.Msc [Press Enter]
Expand the modem branch in Device Manager and see what's listed there.
