I like it because I can see a way out. There are several other interesting
albums:
http://www.lifescapeinc.com/picasa/, beautiful thumbs, good cropping to
aspect ratio (but doesn't show image size)
http://www.ulead.com/pex/runme.htm cropping shows size
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopalbum/download.html nice keyword
addition and search
http://www.jasc.com/products/photoalbum/
But the killer feature in Ulead Photo Explorer is the "Auto Rename" feature.
I can add "keyword" descriptions to the files to help find them but if I
ever want out I can search on a specific "keyword". Select the returned
files and Auto Rename them to append the keyword to the file name, after a
little work my keywords will be in the filenames, better than nothing.
Hopefully Ulead will add real keywords in a future edition.
I will not use a proprietary album until the keywords are written back to
the file as Exif data.
I can't wait to see Microsoft's next Picture It! Surely they have their own
twist on this problem. Previous Picture It! used words from the filename as
a starter set of keywords.
Anything else I should be looking at?
