why doesn't win exp show folder size

when I look at files in win explorer I have a tab or column that says size.
it only displays size for files and not folders. how do I get it to display
the size of folders???

Folders do not have sizes, so that is the reason. I'm not familiar with any
options in any versions of Windows that allow you to display aggregate
content sizes of directories in Windows Explorer. Third party options exist
though. Here's the first hit I got after a "windows explorer folder size"
Google search.

You can either right-click on any folder and then select Properties or click on
the Properties button on the Tool bar.

Either way yields the same info including not only the total size its contents
but the disk space used, and the total quantity of files and folders.
