Why does this happen when I start a drive up??

Hi Folks,

Any time that I turn an external drive on the Autoplay box pops up and
starts searching for something.

After I click on the X in the box then another box pops up in the
middle of the screen asking me what I want windows to do with 8
selections i.e. organize and edit, play, copy pictures to folder etc.

I'm not really sure what is going on or how to stop this annoying
event.

Any help would be appreciated ...

right click on the drive in my computer, then select the autoplay tab, tick
the button for select an action to perform, then select take no action,
apply ok out of that window and you should be good now

I did that and the cd drives did not ask anymore but it is the
external hard drives that are turned on and off on occassion that
continue to query me for action...
