Why does the print preview look nothing like the printed document?

Ok this morning, I wanted to print a label across the top of an A4 page (to
create an A5 label). Typed the label, set the font to 36, formated the text
using tabs to the correct position, did a Print Preview and it looked perfect.

Printed the document..... and my text was printed in the top left corner of
the page, in about 14 point font. Thought it was just a glitch, saved,
rebooted, tried again. Still the same. The only way I could get it to
actualy print the size I wanted was to changed to landsape, and make the font
72.

Anyway, same is happening again. I've done this a million times before on
previous word versions (97, 2000, 2003, XP) and never had a problem. This is
driving me nuts!

It seems that everything prints ok if you just click a straight "print" but
if you try and edit any printer settings (quality etc) then it totally loses
all the formatting.

So, the font was always smaller, correct? And more to the left? I'd
first check Tools | Options | Print to see whether revisions are
included or something (though PrintPreview should reflect the same state
....).

You are using the Word 2007 beta now then? I've read a lot about
printing troubles there, you might want to post this in the beta forums.

Another possibility would be some dumb and/or malicious code
intercepting your printing commands, but that doesn't seem all too likely.
