Why does the Data Entry property set to Yes produce a blank form?

My Access forms now produce a blank background with no data entry fields
showing when setting the Data Entry form property to YES. What changed how
Access forms work and how can I work around the problem?

From the Help file:

The Data Entry property doesn't determine whether records can be added; it
only determines whether existing records are displayed.

Setting

The DataEntry property uses the following settings.

Setting Description
Visual Basic
Yes The form opens showing only a blank record. True
(-1)
No (Default) The form opens showing existing records. False (0)

Did you chang the form's recordsource in any way? If so, maybe you
rendered it non-updatable. If it's a query (whether a stored query or a
SQL statement), open the query directly in datasheet view and see if you
can update and add records.

When a form has no records to display and no records can be added (for
whatever reason), the form's whole detail section remains blank.
