Every so often after my win29 reboots the sytem date is
reset to the year 2020.

Why does this happen?

Thanks

win29? What's that?

If you meant some 95-based version of Windows, add the following
commands in your autoexec.bat file:

date /t
time /t
pause

Then you can see if during the reboot if it is the BIOS (DOS) date that
is getting changed or something you are running within the Windows GUI
environment? If the date is getting changed on a reboot but before you
even get into Windows, maybe you need to replace the CMOS battery on the
motherboard. How old is the motherboard?

Maybe your system is as confused about numbers as your
post is . . .

You need to find out if the problem lies with your BIOS clock
or with Windows. Make it a habit to boot into the BIOS for
the next two weeks, to check the date before you start
Windows. If the date is wrong in the BIOS then you have
a motherboard problem. If the date is correct in the BIOS,
but changes the moment you start Windows, then you
have a Windows problem.
