I am woring in a very small company.
We have only one Win2000 server (the PDC). From time to
time(once or twice a month), I found that the system
date/time of the computer was changed automatically and
incorrectly. The date was always changed to year 2020,
while it keeps the month/day part unchanged. For example,
if today is 2002/01/08, the date will be changed to
2020/01/08. if today is 2003/06/07, the date will be
changed to 2020/06/07.
There is no other machine in our local network that has
this incorrect date/time. And our company use a ADSL for
Internet connection.
I stopped the W32Time service one month ago but the
problem still exist.

To me, feels like this a Y2K-related problem which the
system take the first two digits of year(20??)as the last
two digits of the year. So year 20AB became year 2020.
Anybody have an idea?

Thanks!

Hi,
You probably have an incorrect NTP server setting. Start
the command promtp and do NET TIME /?. You need to do a
search on the web for address for public time servers eg.
tick.usno.navy.mil (choose one for your time zone) then
try net time /SETSNTP:type the adress of the time server
here and press enter.

No, I didn't config any NTP Server on the computer. I am
not even started W32Time service.
Feels like it is not caused by the CMOS power failure too
because every time the date was changed to a different one.
Any other reason?
