It is a very small company.
We have only one Win2000 server (the PDC). From time to
time(once or twice a month), I found that the system
date/time of the computer was changed automatically and
incorrectly. The date was always changed to year 2020,
while it keeps the month/day part unchanged. For example,
if today is 2002/01/08, the date will be changed to
2020/01/08. if today is 2003/06/07, the date will be
changed to 2020/06/07.

There is no other machine in our local network that has
this incorrect date/time. And our company use a ADSL for
Internet connection.

W32Time service is not running so feels like the wrong
date/time is not coming from the Internet.

Everytime the system changes to a different Date, so feels
like it is not the CMOS Battery problem.

To me, feels like this a Y2K-related problem which the
system take the first two digits of year(20??)as the last
two digits of the year. So year 20AB became year 2020.
Anybody have an idea?

Thanks!

Jack,

How often does the year change? When this happens what does the BIOS show for the year? I ask becuase if the BIOS
shows 1920 then Windows 2000 will display 2020. Also, when this happens what do we get if we boot from a DOS boot
floppy and run the Date command? Check Services for Time Service, which is a old Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit utility
called Timeserv. If we find this we want to remove it.
