Why does my watermark create a line in the top left corner?

In MS Word2003, I have a watermark on only a few pages of the overall
document. On these pages appears a vertical line, about 1/4", in the top
left corner of the page, on the left edge of the header. It only appears on
the pages with the watermark. Why does this happen, and how do I get rid of
it?

I would guess that it's part of the watermark. Try View | Header and Footer;
select the stray line and delete.

I thought of that, but the line appears outside of the Header box, and it
won't let me click on it.

That doesn't work either. It's not as though it's an entire line, its just a
small line in the top corner. I'm assuming it has something to do with the
watermark, since it only appears on the pages with the watermark, and it
disappears when I delete the watermark, but I have no idea what it is.

You might had Track Changes on at some time. Accept all changes and see if
this removes the line.
