Why does my Heading Text not show in my TOC?

I have successfully created a TOC in my document with 3 levels assigned to
Heading 1, 2 and 3. But the text for those sections does not show in the
TOC. Just shows the outline numbers I applied, the leading dots and page
numbers.

Are your headings themselves formatted using Heading 1, Heading 2, and
Heading 3 styles?

By default, you should not have to do anything special for text formatted
using those styles to show up in the table of contents.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. Yes, I do have the headings formatted
using Heading 1, 2 and 3 styles. But I had created a table around Heading 1.
In the first cell, I had the Heading 1 with only the # and in the 2nd cell
the description formatted using the Normal style. So the TOC was giving me
exactly what I had done - no description in the 1st cell.
