Why does a sent message repeat itself multiple times?

I sent a message to someone and now any time I send a message to anyone it
goes to the original recipient multiple times. usually four times. I've
scanned the computer for spyware and adware and viruses using several
different scanners and came up with nothing. If I send a message to myself it
comes in multiple times. I have tried everything I can think of.
Also, no matter what message I send, the message received is the original
message I sent to the first recipient.
This is really puzzling.

I'm suddenly getting a very similar issue ... driving me nuts. It
seems to (maybe) be only when I include particular people from my
address book.

Essentially: I create an email with maybe 10 people in the BCC box
from my contacts list. I click send and it sits in the Outbox. It's
actually sending though because for people with auto-reply's sent, I'm
getting them - but the email is still sitting in my outbox. Whenever
Outlook wants to send/receive it sends it again - drives the people
I'm sending it to crazy.

I'm on stand-alone Outlook 2007 at home - all POP3 & SMTP mail system
(Bell Sympatico).

Any ideas? :)

Have you disable AV scanning of your incoming/outgoing email? What happens
if you do?
