Why do some symbols in PPT not come out correctly when we save as

When I have a file in Power Point with certain mathematical symbols (like
"not equal to"), and I save that file as a Windows Metafile in order to
export it, those symbols don't come (they just show a "?").
Does anyone know what I can do to export my files with the mathematical
symbols intact?

Oh, I hate this. I don't know why it happens.

Try saving as EMF if WMF doesn't work. That's the only thing I know to
correct it.
