Why do rectangles appear after conversion to .pdf?

Is there a way to avoid the conversion of "invisible" rectangle
outlines/borders ("No Lines") in powerpoint (Office 2003) into "visible"
lines in .pdf? I used the File menu --> Print --> Adobe PDF route. Thanks for
your input.

Which version of Adobe PDF do you use? The older versions have problems with
transparency, v. 8 or 9 should work well.
Install the Adobe Distiller Add-in for PowerPoint, it usually produces
better results than the printer driver.

Best regards,
Ute
