Why do my emails "disappear" as soon as I retrieve them?

I encountered this problem only today. As soon as I click on send/retrieve,
the process starts, however, it doesn't show in my inbox. The emails
"disappear". When I do a search for an email, an alert window opens with the
following message: The file C:\Documents and settings\M Botes\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst is in use and could
not be accessed. Close any application using this file and try again. There
is no other application open - as far as I know!

Second question, how can I save email folders that is on one computer to
also show with all emails on another computer when I use my Outlook?

How are you doing the search?

Anyways, in Outlook, down on the status bar (go to view-status bar if it
isn't visible), all the way over on the left, does it say 'Filter Applied'?

You can shut outlook down, use task manager to make sure it isn't running,
and copy the PST file from one machine to the other.
