Why do my desktop icons have black boxes?

I changed the theme to Windows Classic and put a different desktop
background. I was recently playing a Game when I noticed that at the top the
taskbar was flashing all the time, could you explain this?
Now I can't even see My Computer or the Recycle Bin because every Icon is
blacked out or has a big black box under it. How can I fix this because I
have tried changing it to 16bit and changing the size of the icon and the
resolution but every time I change back to 32bit it always goes back to the
black boxes again. Please help me.

Anton - This issue and possible remedies can be found at - frameworkx.com
or howtogeek.com.
Read the comments in Geek. To find this tip click 123 Vista tips and
find "disable shortcut icon in Vista - ".
Both these remedies are iffy with varied results. I have had no luck for
a related issue, but you can try. You can easily uninstall the required
download if it fails.
Good luck, Wayne

Anton - Go to Personalization->Adjust font size.
Change your font size to 120 dpi and reboot the computer.
Now you will be able to see you icons but the size will be bigger.
Again change the font size to 96 dpi and reboot you computer again.

Now every thing should be fine :)
