why do jpg images change colors when brought into powerpoint

Sometimes when I bring in jpg pictures to PowerPoint they get some weird
color changes. What is happening?
 
This is most likely because they were created as CMYK images, which is what
is needed for print design. PowerPoint works with an RGB color space. So
depending on what version of PPT and how you are inserting the images into
the presentation it is converting the images from CMYK to RGB, which have
different ways of displaying colors.
