Why do inserted pictures into a Powerpoint slideshow enlarge auto

I'm putting together a picture slideshow in Powerpoint and everytime I insert
a picture, the slide show automatically enlarges it. I've never had this
problem before. How do I change the settings so the inserted picture is
exactly the same size as when I extracted it from the file. These are jpg
files.
