Why do I see "item cannot be displayed" when I go to read email?

We are using Outlook 2007 and when I click to read an email, I get a line in
the preview section "This item cannot be displayed int he Reading Pane. Open
the item to read its contents." When I do that, I then receive a message
saying that it has not fully downloaded. How can I fix this problem. It is
really bothering my boss...

What type of account is this? Have you configured your send/receive group
to always download the entire message and not just the headers? While
viewing Inbox, press Alt-Ctrl-S. Select the send/receive group (probably
"All Accounts") and click Edit. Select your mail account in the left pane.
There should be options on the right controlling what should be downloaded.

I have the same problem Message header downloads but not the full message nor
any attachments. Solution offered for OFFICE 2007 does not work in Office
2003 Both choices dowload header only or the full message are grayed out.
How do I access this?

I just started having this issue. It doesn't affect all my email accounts,
only one and not all the emails. I haven't changed my connections, etc.

What do I do to correct it? Anyone know.

I just stumbled onto a fix for my issue. Under the "file" button, I noticed
a "connect to (name of my email acct)" and by clicking on it, the connection
was fixed. Problem resolved.
