Why do I need to install SP2?

But if you absolutely must try it as soon as you can, MAKE A FULL IMAGE
BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM! (There, I hope that got your attention! <g>) You can
use a free trial version of BootIt for example (
http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/ ), and have a bulletproof way to roll your
system back to pre-SP2 condition if things don't work out. Note that standard
uninstall, backup or roll-back tools (like Go Back) may NOT suffice for an
update of this size and scope. If you want to be 100% sure you can undo SP2
in its totality, you *must* use a heavy-duty imaging tool. See
http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp-q=imaging&sp-a=0008002a-sp00000000 .
Ops! I meant to say BootIt!

Thank you for the newsletter. Wow what a relaxed way of handling XP SP2.

In my case I have installed all of the must have updates. I use a firewall,
NAT router, NAV and PestPatrol.
Yes I think I can wait.......

You mention an Windows Imaging package called BootIt! by
TeraByte Unlimited. It sounds too good to be true! ;~) .

You said that one can download a trial version. Will the trial version allow
one to create image backups and restore them if needed? Should I consider
BootIt! shareware?

Thanks Map!

Bad advice, imo. You should always stay current on updates and service
packs. In a industry environment, a good IT professional tests the service
pack on a non-production machine first, identifies any issues, perpares any
needed fixes, then installs xp on the rest of the production computers.

A good IT Pro decides if an OS upgrade will address and/or improve their
current systems and/or provide them with features they want and/or need
and then install it if does.

A good IT Pro does NOT upgrade PCs just because a major OS upgrade is
available and tested out OK on a text box.

Then why did you install SP2? From your own message header:
