Why do duplicate emails get created when I delete them?

When deleting emails from the inbox, they land in deleted items, however a
duplicate is created. The duplicate is marked as unread.
 
Why am I receiving duplicate emails? I want to receive only one email from
the sender -- not two. This is happening with all of my emails.
 
I believe this is a separate issue, virginia. Perhaps you should post a new
thread?
