Why do applications search DLL in floppy disks?

I have a problem: when I start any application in Windows 2000 Professional
the computer trys to find DLLs in the floppy disk. If none is inserted then
an "Insert Disk" dialog prompt is shown. (I realized this after using a file
monitor application)

Normally when an application doesn't find the required dll in the same
directory it looks in Windows\System, Windows\System32, etc, but in my
computer also seeks in the floppy disk!!!
How do I disable this?

Thanks

It is searching your path. I suspect you have the A drive in your path.

No, it's not. This problem when I open any program from the start menu or
directly executing the .exe.
The happens, for example, with Microsoft Office, Adobe Premierem, Cubase SX,
Propellerhead Reason, etc.

Thanks again.
