Well i would like to thank everyone for their support...and no i didnt have
any disk in the drive. I may not be a wiz at comps but i do know to check
that the power cord is plugged in before flipping out... :)

I just reverted back to xp, not without problems though. My xp cd if from
the days before service pack 1 so as soon as i got online to update through
windows , my comp got the clap in the form of a stupid dialer. It corrupted
my Alg.exe , so again back to square one. At this point i just had a friend
come over with sp2 and such on a external and set everything (xp) up for me
so i didnt throw my comp down the stairs...

Again thanks to all who gave polite responses , it is nice to see people
helping each other instead of flaming those who didnt spend thier whole life
in front of the comp. My RL takes up too much time so forgive me if i am not
the fat guy from the south park WoW episode... :)

Next time you reinstall, any operating system.
Install with the computer physically disconnected from the network.
After installation, make sure the firewall is enabled.
That step alone will stop almost everything while you go to known
sites such as Windows/Microsoft Update to update Windows.
The firewall would have prevented whatever brought the dialer to your
computer assuming you did no surfing other than to known reliable
sites.
If possible, install antivirus and an anti spyware program before
connecting to the network, but these are less essential while you are
going to known sites such as Windows/Microsoft Update.
