WHY can't send

T

tacklady

Hi hope someone can help. I cannot send a picture from another site, I don't
know why. For example, I see apicture on another site and want to send it by
e-mail to another person, so I right click and then click on send e_mail and
no e-mail option comes up. I usd to do this all the time now I can't.

Shouldn't a create-mail come up with the attacment of the picture and I then
put in who I want to send it to?
Thanks
Judy

'Control Panel|Default Programs|Set your default programs', is Windows Mail
listed as the default and does it have all available defaults set for it?

It did say it has all it's defaults, yet when I go into 'option' and
'general' at the bottom it says make default, for
both mail and news, however the box is light colored and unclickable. This
tells me that perhaps they aren't clickable when you set defaults through the
default program ? But shouldn't it show it as a default in the general page?

I did not buy microsft office and did not want it, so deleted it. I am
wondering if I did not disable that mail system as default ,if this has
blocked me from setting windows mail as such?
Just some shots in the dark.
Thanks
Judy

The following procedure will rewrite the default protocol
assignments in the registry:
Open the Default Programs applet, then click on "Set program
access and computer defaults." Expand the Custom selection, and
select Windows Mail. Click OK.

Hello tacklady
I use Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) on Vista HP 32 bit Sp1 for a Web browser.
When I see a picture or image on a site that I want to email, I Right click
it. I then get a context menu open with many options.
One of those options is to (E-mail Picture... ). I chose E-mail Picture...
and IE7 opens a security warring to Allow or Don't allow.
By clicking on Allow I get a dialog or scroll box giving me options as to
what size Picture I want to send. I make my choice.
My DEFAULT Email client opens a new message window with the picture as an
attachment to the message. I finish the message and send.

This is windows.vista.mail for Windows Mail (WM) newsgroup.
Is Vista-? your OS? I can only assume Vista-? because you posted to this
newsgroup.
What browser do you use to get from site to site?

The Gary BanderMolen post to this thread gives you all you need to set an
email client set as your default,
in this case your wanting to set "Windows Mail". Gary's procedure should
also take care of any problems
that were caused by deleting MS office.

The only info I can add to what Gary has provided, is you will need to be in
a admin account. You cannot
access "Set program access and computer defaults" from a standard user
account. The admin account is the first account setup in Vista.
