hi. everyone I email pictures to find that they are
unable to open them on their computers. I download them
from my olympus digital, using the software that came
with the camera, into my documents or my pictures, then
attatch them to my email notes, and send them. everyon
on the other end says they get the note, but can only
open the pics part way, or not at all, and that they are
too big, etc. someone said that they are not in the
right format, i.e., "mim", when they should be "jpeg".
how do I fix this mess?? I am computer illiterate. j.g.

Are the files in the .jpg format before you attach
them? If not...what format are they in?

I guess you're running WinXP or you wouldn't
be here...right?

OK, go to the following link and download and
install: ImageResizer.exe

http://tinyurl.com/36n

Then you can open any folder that contains
images and you will have an option to resize.
Just right click the selected image files and
choose Resize Pictures from the menu. You
can select one image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in
the folder with your originals.
(Tip: *Never* overwrite your originals)

BTW...when resizing if you go to...Advanced
Button / Custom...and enter 640 in each field...
that will be a good size for e-mail purposes.

When attaching images to e-mail, it might
be a good idea to limit it to one image per
message.

The following info about MIM was saved from
a previous message...maybe it will be useful:

===================================
MIM...A multipart file in the Multi-Purpose
Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) format;
often created as the result of sending e-mail
with attachments in AOL. The files in a multipart
MIM file can be "opened" (unarchived and
separated into individual files) using Winzip
or a similar program.
=====
You can download an evaluation version of
WinZip here:
http://www.winzip.com/

Here's something that will be useful:

attachments":
