Why can't I view worksheet that was previously ok?

I am trying to view a worksheet that has previously been fine. All that
happens is I get a greyed out sheet and an error message saying it is a
read-only file, which it definitely is not. I have tried all sorts but just
can't get to see it - very frustrating! Any ideas anyone?
