Why can't I set up my Hotmail account in Windows mail?

I downloaded Live Mail like I was instructed to do but Windows Mail still
won't let me use my Hotmail account as my email account. I don't have an
email address through an ISP. I'm on broadband.
 
You can't access ANY http email account with Windows Mail.
Use the Windows Live Mail instead, as it can access Hotmail.

Pay them $19.95 for Hotmail Plus and you can use their pop3/smtp servers.
Free accounts are supposed to get pop3/smtp mail eventually, but not yet.
For more information see threads in groups microsoft.public.msn.discussion,
microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop and
microsoft.public.internet.mail. The last one is more or less the default
group for Hotmail related issues, unless you speak French or Spanish.

I am using 1 Hotmail.com & 5 .live accounts in Windows Mail, and Outlook
Express.

For a few weeks now.

Remember to set the accounts to leave a copy of each mail on the server,
Advanced tab of the account.

We learn something new everyday :-))
 
Sometime in February you will be able to . This applies to US . UK,Canada and some
other courtiers already have this capability of Hotmail available in WM.

Don't you hate it when the spell checker doesn't catch the typo
because there actually is such a word? :-)
