Why can't I send or receive email in Outlook 2003?

I have just upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003. I have added gmail as
a POP. The test message is sent successfully (I can see it when I log into
gmail.com).

However, I can neither send nor receive emails in Outlook. The emails I send
from Outlook 2003 remain in the Outbox. The emails that are sitting in my
inbox on gmail.com are never received in Outlook 2003.

We don't know as you have posted no useful information like how you setup gmail or what you used to manage your POP3 account via gmail. Suggest you look to gmail help files to see if you have set it up correctly.

I followed the instructions provided by gmail when setting up the POP3
account in Outlook 2003, just as I had done when setting up the POP3 account
in Outlook 2000 (which never caused any errors). The gmail account was set up
correctly in Outlook 2003.

The issue was resolved when I used Detect and Repair.

Thanks for your insights, though.
