why can't I see all my pending tasks in outlook today?

I may be wrong, but I think I used to be able to leave my Outlook Today page
on the "today's tasks" setting in Customize and see the tasks that had a
start date BEFORE today and a due date AFTER today. Now I have it set on
"show today's tasks" in Customize and get only tasks due today or before. I
must put it on "all tasks" to get tasks due after today...but then I get
tasks with a start date after today too, which I'd rather not view. WHAT
GIVES? Is there a way to accomplish this?

Using Outlook 2003 w/SP2.

I´ve wrestled with the same problem and haven´t been able to fix it. To me it
seems that this should be a basic function of today screen. In my line of
work I have tasks that might be due in six months but I can´t even start them
today. I have a lot of these but I can't see them unless I choose show all
option. Now when I choose that I get a mess on my screen since there´s tens
of tasks that I wouldn't even have to worry about until for instance next
december. Help! Anyone?

Not that this fixes the "today" screen problem, but I figured out that I was
remembering seeing the tasks on the calendar page (you know, when you add the
taskpad to the calendar view?). If you do that you get tasks that are
current but not ones that havne't started yet. Seems silly that that's not
an option on Today.
