Why Can't I Post to This NG

E

eBob.com

From another computer I cannot post to this newsgroup. It can however post
to microsoft.public.test! It had been using msnews.microsoft.com, but since
the computer I can post from (the one I am using to post this message) was
using news.microsoft.com I have changed it to use news.microsoft.com. But
still my messages are not getting there.

In researching the problem I came across a note saying that it might help to
"reset" the newsgroup. But if I right click on a newsgroup there is no
reset choice. (I am using the version of OE that came with Vista on the
machine which cannot post.)

This has been driving me nuts for 3 days. I sure hope someone can help.

Thanks, Bob

For what it's worth, MS servers have been
mysteriously ramshackle for a long time, acting
up in spurts. I don't understand how it works, but
periodically I'll have trouble getting posts to go
through, repeatedly. It will then work if I put a
space between each character, so I figure it's
some kind of wacky spam filter. (Someone else
once tried coverting his whole post to character
code functions, and that also got it through. :)

But then all of my posts show up on Google groups,
even though I posted them directly to MS servers!
So MS forwards the "spam" but doesn't post it? I still
can't figure that out.

Then again, these are the same people who repeatedly
break the links on their webpages without adding a
forwarding link, and who periodically change the whole
layout of the MS and MSDN webpages -- yet every new
version is as bloated and dysfunctional as the last. With
their latest MSDN design I get no scrollbar with script
disabled. I have to Select All, copy, and then read the
page in Notepad. With their last design I got a gray
box on the right side, so I guess their current effort is an
improvement. And thanks to Google I at least can find
the page, even if I can't read it. :)

I'm hoping that someone high up in Microsoft will
realize that the Internet is likely to play a big role in
the future. :)
