Why can't I get any sound out of my Pro Tools MBox?

Hi,

I have a Windows XP service pack 2 PC of a good spec, with a Terratec
DMX 6Fire 24/96 semi professional soundcard, that is running Pro Tools
LE 6.9. I am trying to setup a Midi studio setup with a Technics KN2600
keyboard as the Midi input (this is connected to the PC via a USB
connection and the drivers are fully installed). I have plugged my
headphones into the appropriate slot on the front of my MBox, but no
sound is coming out. I know that Pro Tools is reading some data as when
I am 'recording' or even tapping a key, I can see the green signal on
the mix window going up and down, but I can hear nothing at all on the
headphones. Similarly, when I play back there is silence, though on the
edit window I can clearly see the blocks of data that have been
recorded. I have adjusted the settings on the front of the MBox to many
combinations, but no result. I have turned the headphones right up and
there is nothing but hiss (they do work as they have tested them on
other things). I am at a loss to explain why this is happening, but if
anyone can offer some advice I would be very grateful, as the MBox is
utterly useless to me in its current condition.

Best regards,

QH

Plug them in to the headphone jack on the back of the PC, which is
your soundcard.

Control Panel/Sound And Audio Devices/Audio/MIDI Music Playback... check the
correct MIDI device in the drop down list. Also, test your speakers under
the Volume tab....
