Why can't I find mail that has been read?

If I check my Outlook in the Windows XP computer at work, I cannot see the
mail that I have already read (nor find it in the archives) and for sure has
not been deleted by me. When I check my inbox at the other computer running
on 2000, I can read in my inbox all mail that I have opened already. Can
someone please explain. Thank you.

If your Outlook on the 2000 machine is set to remove your mail from the
server, then you cannot download it subsequently to another machine.
