Why can I receive emails but not be able to send emails?

My error message when I try to send an email is as follows: The TCP/IP
connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server. Any answers?

Does your server require authentication? This is a common error when your
server does. Many 3rd party POP3 servers went to this method to cut down on
third party mass mailing programs using there servers for spam.

What you're looking for under your Mail Account is a little box that says
something like "My Server requires authentication".

Hope this helps.

In addition to what Alex said, this can also be caused by using an add-in
that scans your incoming or outgoing mail for viruses or spam. DIsable that
tool, if you have one, and try again.
