why can i not receive emails on outlook but windows mail is ok?

I am able to send emials via outlook yet cannot receive them. However windows
mail allows me to do both therefore I dont think it is an ISP problem - can
you help?

Version of Outlook?
Type of mail account?
What happens when you try? Any error messages?

If you are using POP3 and haven't configured Windows Mail to leave a copy on
the server then the on-line mailbox would be empty when you try to collect
it afterwards with Outlook.
