Why can I not open an office document on my computer?

When I try to open a document to be able to read it, it doesn't allow me to.
I can open some documents if they are between 1 to 3 pages but if they are
bigger I can't open it. Also the same thing happens in my e-mail if I get an
attachment it doesn't let me open it. How do I go about opening these
documents?

For one thing, you need a program capable of opening the file - attachment
or otherwise. Additionally you need enough memory [RAM] to run the program &
open the file. Beyond that it's hard to say since you give no indication of
what type of files, what version of which programs you're using or anything
about your computer or its operating system version.

It would also be helpful to have a more specific & detailed description...
What do you mean by "won't allow me to"? Any error messages? What is the
exact behavior when you attempt to open the files?
