Why are files so scattered?

I just noticed that AVG and Symantec files (as well as others) seem to be scattered
through Application Data and other folders. Is there any way of stopping this from
happening? I'd like it if AVG stuff was all in one folder.
 
I know that this isn't the answer to your question but aren't you having
problems running 2 anti-virus programs?

not at all...though for the first time (I'm not using free software anymore) they
both tend to identify viruses at the same time. That's AVG 7.0 and Symantec Corporate
Edition 8.0. I also scan with PCillan House Scan and eScorcher (free - and is a
resource hog if left running all the time - I don't think it updates so its probably
useless). Just don't use the free versions.....
