Why are all my downloads in the .ART Catagory?

Recently whenever I download information it is received in
my system as an "exe.ART" file I can't execute the file??
This happened today when I downnloaded from Symantec the
fix for the Worm Blaster? I would also like to know how to
get my computer into Safe Mode. This is necessay to remove
other files affected by the Worm.Any information will be
appreciated. Thanks
 
That is the problem with IE. If you use Netscape, it will
go away. Don't know why.
